Where are the Godly Mothers?

Another Mothers day celebration is here. In North America we celebrate Mothers in the year 2019 on
May 12, the Anglican community have a different date ( I know because my dad is an Anglican Priest),
some other communities have their own specific date. What is worth noting is that every community
recognize the importance of celebrating motherhood. Yearly celebrations ensure that we do not forget,
that we remember the reason for a thing, its importance or warnings. All through scriptures we see God
encouraging and even commanding us to remember landmarks, victories, His goodness etc. For example
He says in

Prov 22:28 “Do not move an ancient boundary stone set up by your ancestors.”

Also in Deut 5:16, Eph 6:2 we are commanded to honour our Mothers and Fathers. It is in fact as we
are taught in Sunday school the only commandment with a promise. My point is this, the origin of such
remembrance is our Father, God. If we do not know the reason of a thing or its origin, there is a
tendency of abnormal use (Abuse). Why celebrate mothers? Why would God put it in the heart of man
to set a day aside to celebrate mothers? Is it just because they went through the nine months of
pregnancy? Is that what makes a mother? I believe it takes more to be a mother. Godly mothers shape
destinies, they rescue destinies, they rock the cradle, they are partners with God. They are vital to how
our world turns out. They are vital to how our men turn out. THEY ARE VITAL.

Satan knows this, he went after the woman in Revelation 12. Specifically verse 13 says When the
dragon saw that he had been hurled to the earth, he pursued the woman who had
given birth to the male child.  Again verse 17 says,   Then the dragon was enraged at the
woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring——–‘ While
these verses are prophetic of the future, they also give us a good idea of what
takes place in the spirit realm. Satan hates godly mothers. In the light of this, not
being ignorant of his devices, how are we mothers ( working within God’s agenda)
to conduct ourselves. How are we to ensure we do not align ourselves with Satan’s
(the enemy) agenda- To steal, kill and destroy.

Hebrews 12 :1, tells us that we surrounded by a cloud of witnesses eg Deborah-
the mother in Israel who stood up when Israel had abandoned the highways and
were now cutting corners afraid of the enemy of the day(Judges 5:6), Jael, who
though she was a fulltime house wife was aware of the political environment and
recognized the enemy (Judges 4:18). What about Jochebed, Moses mum who in
spite of the Kings edict , risked her life and safeguarded the destiny of Moses ( Ex
2:1-10, Heb 12:23), we have an un named mother in 2 Samuel 20:19 who
delivered a whole city from destruction through her wise counsel- She said’ We are
the peaceful and faithful in Israel. You are trying to destroy a city that is a mother
in Israel. Why do you want to swallow up the LORD’s inheritance?”. Mothers, these
are just a few examples of mothers in the Bible, who faced the challenges of their
time and came out victorious.

We can not afford to fail. Isaiah 8 :12-13 paraphrased says We must not call
conspiracy everything this people calls a conspiracy; we should not fear what they fear, or dread it.

13  Instead we are to regard The LORD Almighty as holy, he is the one you are to fear, he is the one you are to dread.

We must know that working with God, we cannot fail.
We must not give in to fear- God’s word must be law to us even in a changing world
We must maintain a wholesome relationship with the Lord- that is the foundation of right counsel that is
needed today in our world.
We must be watchful while being prayer full. Watch out for anti-godly signs and habits and uproot them
immediately
We must develop inner strength to fight the Lords battle, see ahead and plan ahead. Do not be
complacent or ignorant- Prov 31: 24-26
Show good examples, stop being busybodies and eating the fruit of idleness, refuse a depressive spirit
Prov 31:27. Be sure of your salvation 2 Tim 3:6-7
Be committed to the Spiritual and emotional development of the Children God have blessed you with.2
Kings 18:2. This is so vital in today’s world in which people are now being ruled by emotions. Teach
them that our emotions are subject to God’s authority. Eph 4: 19, 23, Titus 2: 11-12.
Pray without ceasing- As a mother, I need all the help I can get. Who better to help me than the one
who made a mother 1 Thess 5:17.
Women received back their dead, raised to life again. Heb 11:35a. There is no hopeless case with God.
Mothers keep fighting the good fight of Faith, we are co laborer’s with God in the preservation of
destinies. Remember this as we celebrate another Mother’s Day. It’s a great and a rewarding
assignment. It comes with a great responsibility, it comes with great sacrifice, it also comes with a great
reward from our master. He (being our first husband) will praise the works of your hands.
